Carolina is a Belizean-Mexican-American painter and mixed-media artist. She grew up in Edgewater, and the neighborhood’s diversity has added cultural depth and vision to her creative experiences. She is a graduate of Columbia College Chicago, where she studied Art & Design and Fine Art. She studied under American-Mexican muralist Mario E.Castillo, who taught her color and glazing techniques. In 2004 she moved to Pilsen, where she drew inspiration from the neighborhood’s rich Latin culture and its myriad murals. Currently she works out of her studio in Lincoln Square. In her art, she creates visual stories, questions and awareness of issues. “My goal is to engage my audience to question everything—society, the media—and to seek their own answers.”
